Gamma NSC 1 420 2 764 x 1000 core-h/month
Gamma is equipped with fast interconnect network (Mellanox Infiniband FDR). It has a combined peak performance of 61 Teraflops/sec, 3,840 compute cores, 9 Terabytes of memory, and 11 Terabit/s aggregated network performance. The system is based on HP's Cluster platform 3000 with SL230s Gen8 compute nodes, and was delivered in 2012 by GoVirtual AB. It has 228 thin nodes with 16 cores and 32 GiB memory, 10 fat nodes with 16 cores and 128 GiB memory, and 2 huge nodes with 16 cores and 256 GiB memory. Gamma have been replaced with a new system, Sigma, that was made available to users on August 23, 2018. NSC currently plan to keep Gamma in operation and available to users until September 21st, 2018. After that, Gamma will be permanently shut down and decommissioned.
Kappa NSC 2 080 1 900 x 1000 core-h/month Decommissioned, please apply for time on Gamma instead.
Kappa is a throughput cluster with a total of 2912 cores which gives a peak performance of 27 Tflops/s. The operating system is CentOS 5.x x86_64. It have 362 HP SL170h G6 compute servers and two system servers. Each of the compute servers is equipped with two Quad-core Intel® Xeon® E5520 (Nehalem 2.26 Ghz, 8MB cache) processors. 56 of the servers have 72 GiB primary memory while the remaining servers have 24 GiB each. All nodes are interconnected with a 4:1 oversubscribed DDR Infiniband fabric. Half of the system was allocated through SNAC and half was dedicated to research groups from Linköping University until 2013-07-01. After that date all of Kappa is dedicated to research groups from Linköping University. Kappa is also equipped with two 'fat-nodes' with 64 cores and 1 TiB primary memory each. The fat-nodes are predominantly reserved for users from Linköping university.
Matter NSC 228 2 900 x 1000 core-h/month Decommissioned, please apply for time on Gamma instead.
Matter is a throughput cluster with a total of 4128 cores which gives a peak performance of 37 Tflops/s. The operating system is CentOS 5.x x86_64. It have 516 HP SL170h G6 compute servers and two system servers. Each of the compute servers is equipped with two Quad-core Intel® Xeon® E5520 (Nehalem 2.26 Ghz, 8MB cache) processors. 4 of the servers have 144 GiB primary memory while the remaining servers have 36 GiB each. All nodes are interconnected with a 4:1 oversubscribed DDR Infiniband fabric. Matter was dedicated to the Matter consortium until 2014-11-01 but is now dedicated to research groups from Linköping University.
