The goal of this project is to develop and apply computationally efficient models and tools to investigate the role of maternal effects on the risk of psychiatric disorders. Once these methods are developed, we apply them to estimate the additive genetic and maternal effect contributions in the etiology of chronic tic disorder, intellectual disability, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The study base stems from a population of over 15 million individuals using the Swedish Multi-Generation Register (MGR) data.
Perception of personal integrity for individuals included in a registry-based study is necessary. We will only have access to anonymized data. Data will be handled in accordance with regulations and rules under the Swedish Data Protection Act and implemented according to the guidelines that apply at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Karolinska Institutet.
