Abstract

The project investigates whether the blockage effect in a wind farm during stable atmospheric conditions could match wake effects in magnitude where atmospheric stability is quantified by comparing the amount of turbulence generated by buoyancy effects to the amount of turbulence generated by surface roughness. In this project the state-of-the-art Large-Eddy Simulation (LES) as the high-fidelity Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) approach is used. The LES model is performed using OpenFOAM software.
