Today deep learning methods outperform domain-specific techniques in a broad set of areas ranging from medicine, physics and biology to information technology, engineering science and computer science. This makes knowledge of deep learning relevant for most scientific fields dealing with data. This course provides a PhD level introduction to the area of deep learning targeting all PhD students at the Faculty of Science and Technology at Uppsala University, but is also open for PhD students from other faculties at Uppsala as well as PhD students at other universities. We have 40 PhD students who have applied for the course, majority from the Faculty of Science and Technology at Uppsala University spread over all six sections.
